Active living and physical fitness have always been a passion of mine which is why I am so grateful that I have had the opportunity to own fitness studio for the past 6 years. My passion for physical activity started at an early age, as living a healthy, active life was a priority to both of my parents, my mom being an avid runner and my dad who played professional hockey in Sweden. As a child, I played many different sports but as I began to grow up I started to focus specifically on Track and Ringette. Track taught me independence and self-motivation, as it is an individual sport that requires A LOT of hard work and dedication. Ringette taught me how to be a team player working towards a common goal. I was fortunate enough to compete at the National level for both sports and then on the U of A Ringette team as well as the U of A track team while working towards my degree. My love for sports and physical activity led me to enroll in the Bachelor of Physical Education program at the University of Alberta where I graduated from in 2011 with a concentration in Active Living, Health and Well-being. I also earned my CSEP-CPT through my degree in 2008 and have completed multiple courses in regards to fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. Playing competitive sport taught me a lot about sports nutrition and long term training programs that I am able to apply to my clients today. I have been a personal trainer for the past 8 years and I have learned so much working with many different people ranging from high level athletes to individuals with all sorts of injuries and other struggles. Every new client has provided me with a new skill set and a fresh outlook on training and program development. Over the past 8 years, I have also become a mother and have taken courses in prenatal and postnatal fitness to better understand how the female body changes and what is best before and after childbirth. My experiences as a mother have helped me understand the struggle of maintaining balance and what I can do as a trainer to make that transition easier for ALL of my clients! It’s hard to find the time and motivation to exercise, I struggle with this everyday so I try my best to make workouts quick, doable, effective, and based on the needs of each individual client. My passion is working with my clients to develop goals and help strive to achieve those goals as well as a healthy, new, balanced lifestyle.
